2015-06-11 2

An entire command of a Colombian Army battalion has been arrested for allegedly killing more than 70 civilians in one of the “false positive” scandals documented in the country. All five suspects are Colonels. The term “false positives” refers to civilians who are killed by the army and then dressed as guerrilla fighters in order to get a reward. The Medellin-based battalion is accused of killing 72 civilians between 2006 and 2007. Prosecutors say that over 4,000 Colombian civilians were killed as part of the scheme. teleSUR
