High winds and a spring thaw produces a massive wall of ice that was sent crashing into a small Canadian lakeside community.
Homes and cottages were destroyed and some residents had to flee for their lives.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) MYLES HAVERLUCK, COTTAGE OWNER, SAYING:
"It was just a big roar and you could see it coming, and you keep thinking it's not coming any farther, it's going to stop, but it just kept on coming."
Parts of the town had just been rebuilt after flood damage in 2011.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) DENNIS STYKALO, HOMEOWNER, SAYING:
"A lot of money and a lot of time restoring the damage that had occurred in 2011 and getting everything back to the point where you could enjoy the lake back here again, and here in ten minutes last night the damage was all over again so it's pretty devastating."
A similar ice wave was reported in the U.S. state of Minnesota.
