Afghanistan is watching closely as neighbouring Pakistan goes to the polls in a landmark election.
The two countries have had a tumultous relationship, marred by territory disputes, rocket attacks and fighting between soldiers.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai has repeatedly said Pakistan harbors fighters and wants to destabilize Afghanistan.
