Ariel Castro charged in Cleveland kidnappings

Charges have been filed against the Cleveland school bus driver in the case of three women who were held captive for a decade in his house.

Prosecutor Victor Perez.

SOUNDBITE: Prosecutor Victor Perez saying:

"I just signed criminal complaints charging with 4 counts of kidnapping , 3 counts of rape. These seven criminal complaints are first degree felonies.

Fifty-two-year-old Castro will be arraigned on Thursday. No charges have been brought against his two brothers.

Cleveland Deputy Police Chief Edward Tomba also told reporters that the women had few opportunities to escape before this week . He also discussed their life in captivity.

SOUNDBITE: Cleveland Police Deputy Chief Edward Tomba saying:

"They were not in one room but they did know each other and they knew each other were there."

Asked how the women could be held for years unbeknownst to neighbors, Director of Public Safety Martin Flask had this to say.
