Mike Tyson reveals that an ex-girlfriend cooked and ate his pet pigeon.
Mike Tyson may not have a soft heart for his boxing opponents, but he is fond of pigeons. The former heavyweight champion recently revealed on a radio show that pigeon racing is his "first love”.
Claiming to be a lifelong fan of pigeons, Tyson once trained and raced 350 of them. He was asked if he had ever eaten one of his birds and that’s when the conversation took a bizarre turn.
Tyson recollected a time when an ex-girlfriend grabbed one of his pigeons and cooked it. She then ate the bird. Tyson speaks of the incident stating “It just wasn’t the right thing to do. . . . That’s why she’s not my woman anymore.”
When asked why he allowed her to consume one of his bird friends, the boxing star said “It was her house and we were living off of her dime, so she could do it.”
Mike’s reality show, adeptly named “Taking on Tyson” aired in 2011 on Animal Planet. The cameras rolled, following Tyson as he took part in the world of pigeon racing.
