DC begins the annual potholepalooza.

Potholes are a common problem in many areas across the United States. Washington DC has an annual campaign known as potholepalooza to address the issue.

It just kicked off for this year and will run for a month straight. D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray and the District Department of Transportation are sending crews throughout the District, fixing all potholes that are giving motorists problems.

The workers strive to fix the nasty holes within 2 days instead of the normal 72 hour span. Residents can email or use twitter to report or request a repair.

The District Department of Transportation states “The first-ever Potholepalooza was held in 2009, and since then DDOT crews have filled almost 21,011 potholes during the annual campaign.”

Recently, Missouri wrapped up a pothole repair crusade. Called the “Pothole Patrol” campaign, residents were prompted to report holes that had formed over the winter.

A spokesperson for the Missouri Department of Transportation stated “The goal of this effort is to patch potholes as quickly as possible and get us through the transition to warmer weather.”
