The US is sending around 200 army planners to Jordan to boost its defences as Syria's conflict gets worse. Meanwhile, Syrian president Bashar al Assad has spoken on state TV. He says thousands of fighters have crossed over from Jordan, raising the probability of the conflict spreading across the region. Al Jazeera's Rosiland Jordan reports from Washington DC.
