Artist hopes to be first professional to record song in space

It's an industry where originality is hard to come by.

But British singer Sarah Brightman is looking to tread new ground in music -- or not as the case may be.

She hopes to be the first professional artist to record a single in space.

"What would be beautiful would be if I could connect with other musicians on earth. Singing or playing or children's choirs at the same time as me singing in space. Obviously depending on trajectory."

The 52-year-old will fly into space in 2015 on a Russian rocket after completing her training.

She'll be the country's eighth private passenger, reportedly at a cost of $20 million each.

Brightman's latest album chronicles how she's pursued her dream.
