A moose dies after walking through a grocery store.
Animals in unexpected places tend to draw headlines.
A large, young animal recently sauntered through a Safeway shop in Smithers, British Columbia.
According to reports, people had been feeding a moose in the store’s parking lot and it eventually followed customers right through the automatic doors.
An employee was able to lure the animal back outside with an apple. The moose was very weak and it was covered in ticks.
Conservation workers arrived on scene and tranquilized the animal in an attempt to relocate it. Sadly, the sickly moose passed away during the process.
Last year, the Pittsburgh Mills mall in Pennsylvania encountered a bear. The animal arrived twenty minutes before closing time and entered the Sears store after triggering the automatic doors.
The shop was evacuated, after the one-year-old female bear, weighing roughly 125 pounds darted into the shop. She went on to walk the aisles before police caught up and tranquilized her.
