PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720 to blur the lines between single and multiplayer, Bethesda moves on from Skyrim for pre-production of next major product, and SuperBot Entertainment establishes new IP despite being let go from PlayStation, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. PlayStation 4 and the next Xbox are set to release later this year launching the true next-generation of video game consoles, and Ubisoft, unarguably one of the largest video game publishers in the world, is stoked for the experiences to begin. Yannis Mallat, CEO of Ubisoft Montreal, spoke on the progress of their upcoming next-generation release, Watch Dogs, and how “the next generation will help us to blur the lines between on and offline play and between single and multiplayer.” Fans of multiplayer gaming are sure to be pleased by such comment, but for those who appreciate the value of quality singleplayer gaming experiences, hope that quality will only improve and multiplayer features are left additional rather than essential is active.

Bethesda Softworks, the team behind the massively successful 2011 Holiday season release, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, has released a statement announcing that they are officially moving on from Skyrim and no more official downloadable content will release for the game they have been working on since back in 2006. While Bethesda will continue to provide minor updates as needed, they are “in pre-production on our next major project, and that game is at the point where it requires the studio’s full attention to make it our biggest and best work yet,” Can we expect the next release from Bethesda to be Fallout 4? The next The Elder Scrolls? A brand new IP? Pete Hines, Vice President of Bethesda Softworks, stated recently that a large announcement is coming for 2013 so we will definitely hear what’s going on likely during E3 2013, or somewhere around that time.

Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, despite being let go from PlayStation and suffering much downsizing, the development team behind PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, SuperBot Entertainment, has confirmed they are currently involved within the development of a new IP. No details or hints have been provided regarding what the new IP will entail, but considering the downsizing of the company and the lack of a known publisher for the team, I personally believe they are going the route of indie video game development.
