Paul McCartney's front door sells for over $7,500 at an auction.
Beatles memorabilia can land huge sums of money.
One such bizarre piece is the former front door of the Beatles singer, Paul McCartney.
The wood door was the front entrance of a Liverpool residence where McCartney lived from 1955 to 1964. The house is now declared a National Trust property, available for public viewings.
A local musician who had the door in his possession for many years sent it to auction where it sold for over $7,500 to a telephone bidder.
Valuer Chris Albury stated “It was a bit nerve-wracking, as all these odd things are which can draw huge amounts of attention, but when it comes down to it only a small number of bidders actually wanting to buy such a thing.”
It is believed the house which the door came from was the location where several Beatles songs including “Love Me Do” and “I Saw Her Standing There" were composed.
Recently, a signed copy of The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" was sold at auction for a surprising sum of just under 300 thousand dollars. The inside spread of the cover features the signatures of all four band members.
