Tom Cruise may be ways removed from his box office glory days of the '80's and 90's, but the 50-year-old actor is still a major movie star with enough power to shut down Hollywood Blvd. as he arrived for the premiere of his new sci-fi film, "Oblivion" on Wednesday night (April 09).

Fans lined up four hours ahead of the films screening at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, hoping to catch a glimpse of Cruise, who met with fans for nearly an hour, patiently signing autographs and posing for photos.

"Oblivion," directed by Joseph Kosinski, is based on the Radical Comics graphic novel of the same name by Kosinski, and is set in a futuristic 2073 after the Earth has been all but destroyed by an alien invasion.

Cruise, plays Commander Jack Harper, a drone mechanic and one of the last men left on Earth, who teams up with Morgan Freeman's character Beech, to try and save the world.
