A law in China requires children to visit their elderly parents.
If you are a parent and have issues with your children not visiting enough, consider moving to China.
Because in China, grown children have an obligation to their parents and not just in the moral sense. Starting on July 1st 2013, parents in the country can sue their own kids for not visiting them enough.
An amended law is requiring adults to take better care of their elderly relatives, specifically their mom and dad. The move seems to reflect the projected future changes in China’s older population, which is expected to double in the next 4 decades.
According to tradition, children lived with their parents and looked after them but that type of relationship has fallen to the wayside in recent years, as younger adults have moved to the bigger cities looking for work.
Earlier this year, a 32-year-old man, Bernard Bey from Brooklyn turned the tables and filed a lawsuit against his own parents for not loving him. In the self-written suit, he claims that their neglect and lack of caring led him to become homeless.
Bey was seeking $200,000 in damages citing physical and emotional abuse.
