Pakistan on Wednesday test fired a nuclear-capable intermediate-range ballistic missile.
The Hatf IV Shaheen-1 Weapon System is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads to a range of 900 kilometres.
According to a military Inter Services Public Relations statement, the missile incorporates a series of improvements in range and technical parameters to the existing missile.
The launch, whose impact point was at sea, was witnessed by the Director General of Strategic Plans Division Lieutenant General (Retired) Khalid Ahmed Kidwai and the Chairman of Pakistan's National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM) Muhammad Irfan Burney.
Lt. Gen. Kidwai congratulated all scientists and engineers on the successful launch.
