A controversial art display features a dead horse hanging from a ceiling.

A key measure of a good art piece is the extent to which it stirs our personal thoughts.

An art gallery in Switzerland has become the center of controversy after hanging a dead horse from the ceiling, in front of a window for passers-by to see.

The body of the horse has been preserved. Two sling-like holders wrap around the animal’s neck and hind quarters.

Although some local residents are horrified by the presentation, the artists behind the exhibit will not apologize. The gallery manager explains the idea behind the deceased horse stating “What they're trying to do is show how culture is endangered and how we should protect it.”

Last year, several PETA activists were arrested after an unusual presentation. Members of the animal rights group initiated a protest outside of a KFC restaurant in Cambodia.

Wanting to bring awareness to the chain restaurant’s alleged poor treatment of chickens, the activists sat in a cage outside of the dining business, sadly staring out towards customers walking by. They were detained for disrupting public order.
