Saudi women are now permitted to ride bikes and quads.

Saudi women are prohibited from taking part in many activities. However, under a new rule, women in the country are now permitted to ride bikes and quads.

They can enjoy the vehicles in parks and open desert areas so long as they are dressed appropriately in skin covering clothing.

Females in Saudi Arabia are not allowed to drive on the roads, but the bikes can be used by women for recreational purposes.

A male relative should be present during the off-road excursions in the event of injury.

Ladies are also urged to stay away from groups of young people to avoid occurrences of harassment, threats or thefts.

Last year, it was announced that the country was planning on building a women-only city. The area will only allow a population and workforce of females.
Many of the Saudi Arabian women attend college, but only an estimated 15 percent are part of the job market. The project, located in the Eastern city of Hofuf is an idea for coping with the modernizing world, without submitting to a full acceptance of gender equality.
