An American woman was killed and another one was injured when the scooter they were riding on skidded off the road off the southeastern coast of Taiwan on Tuesday, police said.
Local media said 18-year-old Anna Rosemary Harris, who was touring Green Island, was found dead on the scene.
Her companion, Roberta Maria, a teacher of Taipei American School, has a broken wrist and facial injuries, police said.
An unnamed police officer said that both victims were sent to hospital.
Four others were travelling in the group, but a police officer answering media inquiries late Tuesday said that details about the accident had yet to be established.
Green Island is one of Taiwan's main outlying islets and is popular with tourists.
