A signed Beatles album sells for nearly $300,000.
A signed copy of The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" was sold at auction for a surprising sum of just under 300 thousand dollars.
The original estimated value was one-tenth of its eventual selling price.
The inside spread of the cover features the signatures of all four band members. The autographs were obtained in 1967; the year of the album’s release.
Beatles’ collectible expert Perry Cox authenticated the album. He said of the item, “I consider this to be one of the top two items of Beatles memorabilia I've ever seen - the other being a signed copy of 'Meet the Beatles'.”
Heritage Auctions in Dallas, Texas didn’t make the name of the buyer public but reports reveal that the person is from the Midwest.
Its amazing money-fetching power aside, the album is famous for other reasons. Among them is that it’s believed to contain clues and confessions regarding the untimely death of the real Paul McCartney and his top-secret successor.
According to a conspiracy theorist, the cover art is packed with telltale images and the album itself, when played backwards, tells listeners “Paul is dead.”
