Nelson Mandela's condition is said to be improving.
The 94-year old former South African President was admitted to hospital overnight for a recurring lung infection.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) PRESIDENCY SPOKESMAN MAC MAHARAJ SAYING:
"Former President Nelson Mandela is responding positively to the treatment he's receiving for a recurring lung infection. For the present, he remains under treatment and observation in hospital."
Mandela has been frail and in poor health for several years.
The anti-apartheid leader has a history of lung problems, dating back to when he contracted tuberculosis as a political prisoner.
