Pope Francis holds his first Holy Thursday mass as leader of the Roman Catholic Church.
During the service, the newly selected pontiff urged Catholic priests to go out among the poor and suffering in their communities.
(SOUNDBITE) (Italian) POPE FRANCIS:
"The Lord will say this clearly: his anointing is meant for the poor, prisoners and the sick, for those who are sorrowing and alone."
Thursday's mass was the latest indication since Francis's surprise election two weeks ago that he wants the 1.2 billion member Church to be closer to the poor.
Holy Thursday marks the start of a busy schedule over the next four days leading up to Easter on Sunday.
