The routes used by drug traffickers are constantly evolving – as are US law enforcement’s attempts to stop them. After successful crackdowns in the Caribbean in recent years, most cocaine now travels from its source in Colombia and Ecuador to the US over land through Central America, and makes at least part of its journey by boat, in the Pacific.
