A full house for Chinese President Xi Jinping as he warns against foreign meddling during a lecture at Moscow University.

Xi addressed students a day after meeting Russia's President Vladimir Putin in his first trip abroad since assuming the presidency.

He called for equality saying every country should have the right to choose its own development path, without foreign interference.

Xi added that strong Chinese-Russian relations served as an important and reliable guarantor of international peace and stability.

China has frequently teamed up with fellow permanent UN Security Council member Russia to blunt the influence of the U.S. and its NATO allies, most recently in Syria.

In a further show of solidarity, Xi was also warmly received by Russia's Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev.

Xi has made Russia the first stop on a trip that will also take him to Tanzania, the Republic of Congo and South Africa.
