Yves Saint Laurent Fashion Show Styles Grunge

Hedi Slimane put on yet another riveting show complete with hipster rock 'n' roll music and dramatic lighting when he revealed his second collection for the iconic French label Yves Saint Laurent inside the Grand Palais national monument on Monday, during Paris Fashion Week.

Slimane's autumn/winter 2013-14 collection was an ode to grunge with Kurt Cobain-era grunge plaid shirts layered over Courtney Love-style rock chic black leather dresses, sparkly tights, and studded motorcycle boots.

To take the theme further, the models sported unwashed messy locks that made them seem as if they had just rolled out of bed after a hard night of partying.

The late Yves Saint Laurent, who died in 2008, is credited for inventing streetwear and democratizing fashion.

Slimane's latest collection paid tribute to this aspect of Saint Laurent by showing looks on the catwalk that you could easily find on the streets of downtown Los Angeles- where Slimane currently lives and works.

Since gaining artistic control of Yves Saint Laurent, Slimane has stayed faithful to the essence of the brand but has injected a fresh shot of modernity and edginess.

Paris is the final leg of the international Fashion Week whirlwind following New York, London and Milan, and runs from February 26 to March 6.
