The Supreme Court on Wednesday (March 6) took suo moto cognizance of police personnel beating a girl in Punjab and contractual teachers in Bihar. The SC seeks explanation by Monday from both the states on the conduct of the police. On Tuesday, Bihar police ruthlessly lathi charged contractual women teachers who were protesting for regularization of jobs and pay parity with regular teachers. On the other hand, Punjab police brutally beat a girl and her father for complaining against harassment.
