A small island in northern Scotland received a surprise visitor over the weekend, drawing a crowd of enthusiastic spectators to its rocky shores.

A walrus was spotted in island off the northern part of Scotland.

Local media reported the last time the arctic mammal had come this far south was more than 20 years ago, prompting many residents to brave the windy weather for a glimpse of the tusked animal on the beach.

The walrus, thought to be a young male, had reportedly returned to the sea on Monday (March 4).
