MOONSHAKER SUNNYMAKER - quite a long name isn't it?
It's easy to grasp: this group makes the sun rise and dancefloors bounce.
One big band. Six musicians who curiously try to capture the groove of our time with a cosmopolitan attitude. If you think coffee's all Vienna has to offer, think again --Moonshaker Sunnymaker are the spicy sound of a new generation.
"Grandma's guitar was at the start of it all..."
Moonshaker Sunnymaker was founded in 2007. Back then, still a group of younglings from Vienna, the band soon found a route that shapes them to this day: honest and likeable ways and exceptional song writing.
It's soul, it's hip hop, jazz, but mostly it's a style that's hard to pin down-- it is however very clear, characteristic and memorable, quite individual and with its very own personal touch.
In their short career, the band played big as well as small shows, from Flex in Vienna and Posthof in Linz to stages at bars, block parties and jam sessions all over Austria. All these events make for a wealth of experience and, well, sweaty audiences.
2012 was kicked off by bringing a very special idea to life. Moonshaker Sunnymaker assembled a team of film- and sound-experts to shoot the DVD "Live in Studio." Clearly, it's all about the band's live performance in the studio. Interviews and behind the scenes footage provide insight into the spirit and attitude of the band at first hand.
What's left is the growing anticipation of an album that will encapsulate the sound of the past three years, and probably break some speakers in the process.
