The U.S. soldier accused of leaking classified documents to WikiLeaks pleaded guilty Thursday to misusing classified material.
Reading from a prepared statement, 25 year old Bradley Manning said he leaked the secret information because he felt quote 'it should become public'.
The information Manning leaked to the website included intelligence documents, diplomatic cables and combat videos.
An Army intelligence officer, Manning could face 20 years in prison on charges he misused classified information.
Manning also faces life imprisonment on charges of aiding the enemy. His court martial on those charges is set for early June.
