Romantic Man Arrested for Releasing Balloons

A romantic man is arrested for releasing balloons.

We've all given balloons to others on special occasions.

Well, 40-year-old, Anthony Brasfield released about a dozen heart-shaped balloons into the sky over a nearby beach with his girlfriend.

The couple had been in the parking lot of a Motel 6 when they let the colorful display float upwards, however a state trooper witnessed the incident. Instead of seeing it as a sweet motion between two lovebirds, he took it as an environmental crime.

Brasfield is facing a felony charge of polluting to harm humans and animals under the Florida Air and Water Pollution Control Act, which is punishable by up to 5 years in jail. Apparently endangered wildlife species take refuge in a park close to where the balloons were released.

Last year, a photo made the rounds online of a woman holding a heart balloon in the rotunda of the Capitol in Wisconsin as a form of protest. The release of the balloons, which served as a symbol of the Wisconsin Uprising had been banned in the dome.

If citizens chose to let go of the inflatables, they were arrested and then ticked $263.50.
