Britain's Duchess of Cambridge is welcomed by cheers as she visits an addiction treatment centre.

The duchess toured the Hope House Treatment Centre Tuesday in her first solo public appearance since she and Prince William announced her pregnancy.

She spoke with patients and staff at the London facility, which helps women recovering from substance abuse problems.

Kate is a patron of Action on Addiction, a charity that provides prevention, treatment and support services to people with addictions and their families.

The royal baby is due in July.
