n this video, contemporary visual artist Yves Gabriel used one of the pieces from his American Flag series to reflect on the mass shooting incident that occurred in Newtown, Ct. on December 14, 2012. He replaced the stars with candles from which 27 were lit to depict the victims whose lives were cut short by this senseless act of violence. They also preserve their memory as a reminder to a nation's failure to enact common sense gun regulations that could have made a difference that day. A Nation's betrayal is conceived to remind us all of our responsibility to help create and maintain an environment in which our children are safe, specially from gun violence.
