"Tomorrow afternoon, we'll get panic calls, and then Thursday it will be hight panic and then midday Thursday, it will be all out 'please, please, please' help me."
With Valentines Day just around the corner many local residents are flocking into florists shops for last minute gifts. Linda Vinci owner of Braach House of Flowers in Norwalk says customers usually stop in on their lunch break or after work.
"It's a man's holiday so it's last minute. They all come in last minute saying 'Oh my God, oh my God' I got to get flowers!"
"I just walked over from work, right across the street. It's pretty much a one in a year kind of thing. I'm not much of a flower getter."
"She works at the library and kind of makes a big stir when they show up. It's kind of fun."
Vinci says with all the different types of flowers available, roses have always been the number one seller among florists during Valentines Day.
"Because the roses cost us more we don't make as much per dozen on the roses now. You rely on volume."
In terms of color preference Vinci tells us red is actually not a favorite among most women.
"We mostly rely on red roses though women don't really like red roses. They like every other color but red but it's very traditional tulips, orchids, roses, and then some people come in and then some people come in and want a mixed spring instead of traditional valentines."
She tells us last year customers lined up outside out the door, but most of the sales occur through phone orders.
"It's a good day. You work very hard and it kind of gets you through the slow times."
