These Palestinian activists have been pitching tents every week recently to protest Jewish settlement expansion in areas wanted for a separate Palestinian state.

But Israeli soldiers arrived on the scene soon after and swiftly dismantled the steel-framed tents.

Israel has been criticised internationally for its plans to build more than 11,000 new houses on the disputed land.

International powers view all settlement-building in areas captured by Israel in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war as illegal and a hindrance to peace.
