STORY: Explosions ripped through a weapons depot at an army camp in the western Yemeni province of Hajja on Thursday killing at least five people including two children.
The explosions took place early in the day at the ammunition depot of the 25th mechanized brigade in Abss town of Hajja, around 160 km west if the capital Sanaa.
The Defense Ministry said in a statement that the blasts were accidental. It put the casualty toll at two children dead and eight soldiers injured, but local media, citing medical sources, also reported three soldiers killed.
The ministry said the two children were killed after a shell hit their house located near the camp.
It was not clear what caused the explosions, and the ministry said an investigation was underway.
