A new Barbie Café opens in Taiwan.
Barbie buffs will be excited about a new establishment. Dubbed the Barbie Café, it is located in Taiwan.
It serves as an eatery and the building is decked out in shades of rose, fuchsia and of course numerous variations of pink.
The chairs are designed to appear like tutus and feature lace up, corset décor along with extra frills and fluffs.
Vibrant couches also take up a portion of the interior.
The Barbie inspired eatery tops off the details with portraits of the doll taking up wall space. Offering American, French and Italian cuisine, the dining establishment also serves seafood. One dish is said to look like a jewelry box. Even the wait staff wears tiaras to along with the theme of the iconic doll.
A senior manager at Mattel’s Greater China division states “We picked Taiwan because theme restaurants are very popular and successful here”.
In 2009, a flagship Barbie store was opened in Shanghai for the doll’s 50th anniversary. It featured a bar, restaurant and even a spa.
However, the six floor building closed in 2011 after sales targets could not be met.
