Australia warns citizens against fighting in Syria

2013-01-25 20

It is estimated there are nearly 200 Australians in Syria, either doing humanitarian work or fighting alongside the rebels. Australia's government, though, worries some of its citizens in Syria are there to fight. They have made it clear that any Australian fighting there would be breaking Australian law. Yet even for those who are staying put, the conflict is still hitting very close to home. There have been attacks between supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and opposition supporters in Australia. Al Jazeera's Andrew Thomas reports from Sydney.
