Swarovski-incrusted dresses gave a sparkly, shimmery and glamorous touch to Elie Saab's spring/summer 2013 collection on Wednesday (January 23).
With his romantic shimmery gowns, the Lebanese designer has made himself a household name in haute couture, both in the Middle East and in Hollywood where his gowns are regular fashion fodder on the red carpet.
Burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese who was also in attendance at the catwalk presentation is a fan of Saab's lavish creations. Saab has designed several of Von Teese's stage costumes.
"The thing I love the most is all the beadwork and the sequins and the Swarovski crystal and the beauty and the true haute couture which is about extravagance and opulence and wearable art so that's one reason I love Elie Saab," she said.
The stunning gowns featured exquisite embroidered lace of varying opacity.
The finale number was an ivory champagne lace bridal gown with a voluminous skirt and long train embroidered with Baroque motifs. It was paired with a Victorian-styled matching veil.
Though Saab launched a ready-to-wear line in 1998 in Milan, he explained that he still prefers designing haute couture because it allows him to let his imagination run wild:
Saab's newest collection, which was just as feminine and glamorous as his last, was described as "an ode to delicateness.”
