A study finds that those who lack a body odor gene still wear deodorant.

Putting on deodorant is part of the daily routine for most people. The Journal of Investigative Dermatology has released some surprising research findings.

Evidently, there are some people out there who do not have any armpit stench due to the lack of a certain gene. The study found that three-quarters of the participants who had no underarm smells still stuck to the cultural norm, using deodorant, despite the fact that they don’t need it.

A co-author states “They're spending their money, exposing their skin to what may in a few instances not be good for their skin. It sort of suggests to me that there are a lot of conformists around.”

According to those involved with the study, people who possess dry ear wax are more likely to lack a chemical in their underarm area which means they produce no odor.

If deodorant is not a necessity, it may be best not to use it. Some scientists claim that the chemical ingredients and aluminum-based compounds can be absorbed into the body through the skin, causing estrogen-like hormonal effects.
