This frail but nimble little “V-strutter” gained some well-deserved fame as the aeroplane flown by American volunteers of the storied Lafayette Escadrille prior to America’s entrance into WWI.
Now, Nieuport 17 is a fine dining restaurant located in Tustin on Newport Blvd that is the realization of Naval Aviator, Bill Bettis' lifetime dream. Bettis designed his restaurant carefully to exacting standards and built it with the most state-of-the-art equipment enveloped by the warm atmosphere of a Tirolean hunting lodge.
Bill's dream all started after his college days at USC and when he had completed his flying career with the Navy.Bill became vice president of Cellar Door Restaurants in Houston, Texas, Ten years later he opened the first Nieuport 17 where naturally the theme was aviation.The collection of genuine artifacts, photos and paintings displayed may be one of the best anywhere.Many of the pieces have been donated by regulars and are proudly displayed for your enjoyment.
Our patrons have included aviation greats like R.G. Smith, Gen. Curtis LeMay, the Blue Angels, The Thunderbirds, Flying Tigers, Gen. Jimmy Doolittle, Gen.
