Tens of thousands of Turkish Kurds gather to bid farewell to three Kurdish activists killed in Paris last week.
The three women, including a co-founder of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party, were killed in execution-style shootings.
Many see the crime as an attempt to derail a nascent peace process between the Turkish state and the guerrillas.
Late last year Turkish intelligence officials began talks with jailed PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan on how to end an insurgency which has killed more than 40,000 people since rebels loyal to him took up arms in 1984.
The controversal talks with the PKK, designated a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the European Union and United States, drew sharp criticism.
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan and other political leaders called for calm ahead of the funerals and warned against efforts to provoke trouble.
Following the funeral ceremony, the bodies will be flown for burial to the women's hometowns.
French investigators have given no indication as to who might be responsible for the deaths.
