Lawyers for some of the five men suspected of gang raping and killing a 23-year-old New Delhi woman accuse police of corruption.
On Monday, two lawyers involved in the case said police were guilty of manipulating and delaying evidence.
Defense counsel for two of the accused added that his clients were innocent of the crime.

"My client is totally innocent and falsely implicated in the case because they are poor. One of my clients is a sweeper, a cleaner of a bus, a person who is downtrodden."
Police claim the men and a teen being tried separately had lured the woman and her male friend onto a bus last month and then proceeded to beat both and then rape and torture the woman with an iron rod for an hour.
The brutality of the attack has sparked outrage and protests in New Delhi and demands the government do more to protect women.
