A woman pleads not guilty to trying to push her elderly mother into a burning house.
A 41-year-old woman in California is facing serious charges after allegedly attempting to push her 74-year-old mother into a burning home. The daughter reportedly set fire to her house, which she shared with her elderly mother on New Year’s Day.
According to reports, the elderly woman woke up and saw her daughter’s bedroom was on fire. She tried to exit the home when her daughter tackled her and stated “You're not getting out of here”. The younger woman allegedly grabbed a phone out of her mother’s hands and tried to bind the older woman with a tablecloth.
Although the mother was able to escape, she was treated for smoke inhalation at a nearby hospital. The daughter was arrested shortly after the fire and charged with attempted murder, elder abuse and arson. She has pleaded not guilty.
In another troubling report from last year, a 36-year-old Chicago woman, Julie Franck allegedly robbed her own mom for a $40,000 engagement ring along with $200 and credit cards.
Franck sported a ski mask while her accomplice fired approximately 15 shots from a stun gun into a 55-year-old woman, who was Franck's own mother. The mom was treated at a hospital while Franck was arrested and charged with armed robbery.
