An air and sea search is underway off the Venezuelan coast after the disappearance of a Britten Norman BN-2 Islander plane carrying fashion executive Vittorio Missoni.
Missoni's wife Maurizia Castiglioni, another couple and two Venezuelan crew members were also on board.
The aircraft vanished after taking off from the resort of Los Roques, the company said in a statement.
Missoni is the eldest son of the founders of the fashion house famous for its exuberantly coloured knits featuring bold stripes and zig-zags.
He runs the company with siblings Luca and Angela after they took it over from their parents in 1996 aiming to relaunch the brand to a larger, younger, market as rivals Gucci and Burberry have done.
