A store clerk's error makes a man a lottery winner.
You never know when you may get really-really lucky.
A Hillsborough, New Hampshire man recently won the $2.1 million Tri State Megabucks jackpot after a clerk handed him the wrong ticket.
While at a Circle K, Scott Bennett had initially asked for a Lucky For Life ticket along with a Tri State Megabucks Plus ticket. The store employee instead sold him two Tri State Megabucks Plus tickets as an error.
Later, when the Bennett family checked the numbers, they realized that mistake had deemed them a winner. The family took a one-time lump sum of $1.3 million which equates to a little under $1 million after taxes.
Scott and his wife plan to renovate the kitchen in their Victorian home and pay their children’s college loans. The couple wishes to continue working, as they both love their jobs.
Earlier this year, another man, Richard Brown walked into the Valero gas station and asked for a $5 scratch ticket, however the busy clerk, who is also the manager, handed him a different ticket. The manger realized his mistake but Brown decided to keep the ticket.
The split-second, passive decision resulted in Brown being a $1 million lottery winner.
