Claudionor Viana Teles Veloso, known as "Dona Cano", died on Tuesday following a stroke a fortnight ago.
The mother of musical greats Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethania, "Dona Cano" was a national figure in her own right.
Her home in the north-eastern state of Bahia was a meeting place for Brazil's musicians, poets and politicians.
