A burglar plays with homeowners' cat and turns their Christmas lights on.
One alleged burglar in Troy Township, Illinois made himself right at home. 32-year-old Daniel Bailey had reportedly run out of gas, so he knocked on the door of a nearby house and entered when nobody answered.
The residents of the home had been sleeping but woke up a little while later to find Bailey sitting on their steps and playing with their cat. They asked the strange man to leave and then noticed that their Christmas tree had been turned on, candles had been lit, the TV had been powered on and a coffee cake had been half eaten.
Bailey had also played some darts. Police arrived and found Bailey in the driveway of the residence. When officers searched his car, they found frozen, microwavable dinners and other food that had been taken from the home. Marijuana pipes were also found in the car.
He was arrested for residential burglary, theft, vandalism and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Earlier this year, a 16-year-old boy allegedly burglarized a home in Florida.
On top of stealing the homeowner’s possessions, the thief had also snatched an Eggo from the fridge using Aunt Jemima syrup to top it off. He left his evidence behind, placing his dirty dishes in the sink.
