Obama seeks gun reform proposals by January

As funerals continue in Connecticut after 26 people, including 20 children were gunned down in an elementary school, U.S. President Barack Obama is seeking ways to stop the violence.

SOUNDBITE: U.S. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA, (ENGLISH) SAYING:

"If there is even one thing that we can do to prevent any one of these events, we have a deep obligation - all of us - to try,"

The effort will be led by Vice President Joe Biden, and the deadline is January 1st.

SOUNDBITE: U.S. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA, (ENGLISH) SAYING:

"Any single gun law can not solve all these problems. We are going to have to look at mental health issues, we are going to have to look at schools ..There is going to be a whole range of things that Joe's group looks at."

Obama has already signaled that people should not be able to get their get hands on assault weapons easily and that loopholes for gun-show sales need to be closed.
