A 14-year-old cow sets an Iceland record for milk production.

Milk that you drank today probably came from a cow but have you ever wondered about how much milk a cow dispenses in its lifetime.

Well a cow residing on a farm in south Iceland has broken the country’s record for the production of milk.

Over the course of 14 years, the cow produced about 245,000 pounds of milk in weight!

The cow was born on April 7, 1996.

It averages nearly 17,400 pounds of milk per year in weight, 3.63% of which is protein and 4.67% is fat. 2008 was the best year for the animal, as it produced nearly 23,000 pounds of milk.

Apparently overachieving milk production runs in the cow’s family, as the grandmother milked about 222,000 pounds.

Earlier this year, another cow surpassed all others, taking home a Guinness World Record. The female cow, named Smurf from a farm in Ontario milked a million glasses in her lifetime.
