ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari and his daughter met with Malala Yousafzai at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth hospital on Saturday (December 8).
Malala, a 15-year-old Pakistani schoolgirl, was shot by the Taliban at home in Pakistan in October after campaigning for girls' education. She was later taken to the Birmingham hospital for medical treatment.
Zardari was briefed on her condition by the hospital's medical director, Dr Dave Rosser, and thanked staff in attendance for their efforts to help Malala.
Malala was described by the hospital communications department as "well".
Neither the president nor any of his representatives made any comments to the media, who were restricted from filming, apparently at the request of Malala's family.
Zardari last month added his signature to petitions signed by more than a million people urging Pakistan to pay stipends to families who put their girls in school.
