Alonzo Mourning is a former NBA Champion and Georgetown Hoya. He graduated Georgetown in 1992 after playing four years of basketball and was the #2 pick in the draft that year.Throughout his career, he played for the Charlotte Hornets, New Jersey Nets, and Miami Heat, with whom he won a championship in 2006. He also won a gold medal in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.In 2000, Mourning was diagnosed with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, a kidney disease that eventually necessitated a kidney transplant in 2003.His new book, Resilience: Faith, Focus, Triumph, describes the numerous battles he faced in his life, and how he overcame them to end up where he is today - Georgetown University
