Bal Pandian, birdman of Koonthakulam Sanctuary who dedicated 34 years of his life protecting his winged friends. Apart from protecting birds against poaching, Pandian's focus is on rescuing and rehabilitating wounded fledgling. Along with this, Bal Pandian and his wife take care of the 1 lakh migratory birds that visit the Koonthankulam Bird Sanctuary every year. Pandian's zeal, commitment and an undaunted initiative has safeguarded 4642 chicks and their eggs from storms.
